Join us for Halloween at Hadlock Tonight!

The staff is ready this Friday the 13th for some Halloween Fun.

We’ve had so many different promotions going on it’s been tough to write about them all.  Last night we welcomed the ZOOperstars! for their one and only appearance at Hadlock this season, and tonight we are celebrating this Friday the 13th with Halloween at Hadlock, sponsored by the International Cryptozoology Museum.  Also, remember it is the second annual Flat Screen Friday with David Munster’s TV Sales & Service.  Tonight is your second chance to win a 32 inch flat screen Panasonic television.  Here are the two winners from last Flat Screen Friday:

Won a Flat Screen TV!

Also won a flat screen TV!

Tonight’s game is a single admission doubleheader starting at 6:00pm.  The Sea Dogs will play two seven inning games tonight, with a brief break in between, and your ticket is good for both games.  In between the two games, the staff will be judging a costume contest on the field, so get in your best Halloween garb and show off your costume with the chance to win some great prizes.

If you can’t make it tonight, the Sea Dogs are home tomorrow evening at 6:00pm, with our very own band The Kastaways performing in the front plaza from 4:15pm-6:15pm.  Buy your tickets online here:  https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/team.asp?SponsorID=3927 or call the Box Office at 879-9500.  Don’t miss out on the fun activities and the wonderful baseball weather!

Promotional Fun on a Friday

What on-field promotion are these guys ready for?

This is what happens when the boss is away and it’s a cloudy Friday almost-afternoon.  Please excuse my poor camera skills, it was difficult to keep it still while I was laughing. One of my strengths is that I am very skilled at buying things.  To the right are some items that I recently purchased to enhance one of our on field promotions.  Can you guys which one it is?

Here’s a Hint…..

The Lobster Toss is a staple in the Sea Dogs on-field promotional schedule.  Not only is it a fan favorite, but it also combines local industry, competition, occasional athleticism but mostly hilarity, all into 90 seconds.

Maybe it’s the cold, or maybe it’s the realization that we have just 59 work days left until Opening Day, or maybe it’s the fact that it’s 4pm on a Friday afternoon.  Either way, Chris Cameron and I decided that I should have a blog, detailing our promotions and events that happen at Hadlock Field throughout the year.  (Geoff, if you’re upset about this, it was all Chris’s idea.  Geoff, if you think this is a great idea, I want you to know that I and I alone have worked extremely hard on this).

Before we get any further, I should tell you that my name is Liz, and I am the Director of Sales, Marketing & Promotions for the Portland Sea Dogs located in the beautiful Portland, Maine.  I cannot describe how beautiful Portland actually is, or Maine in general for that matter.  Sometimes I worry that I am biased, because I have lived in the state my entire life, so of course I find it amazing.  But seriously, this city and state are both amazing places to live, work and enjoy.  Portland has great food, nice people, a fun downtown, the ocean and of course, the best Minor League Baseball franchise around.  I always tell people, if I didn’t work here, I would come to the games all of the time, and I don’t even like baseball.  There I said it.  I am not a baseball fan.  I mean no malice in that, I just would  not sit down and watch every play of a baseball game and be intrigued.  I don’t attend many sporting events for the event on the field–I go for the food, the drinks and the atmosphere.  I am a huge fan of atmosphere, entertainment and diversion.  Part of my job is creating an atmosphere where even people like  myself can enjoy a night out with friends, family, or even solo.

So, unlike my good friend Mike Antonellis’s blog (THE voice of the Sea Dogs) I will not cover the various plays, players and highlights of games.  You baseball junkies might get a few tid bits here and there.  A former college athlete (very former), I am begrudgingly fluent in baseball and most sporting lingo.  I even have my own Fantasy Football team!  However, instead of the sports aspect, I will cover our promotional events for our 71 home games and also the events that take place in the office season.  Off season events include Hot Stove Dinner, Mother’s Day 5K, Father’s Dy 5K, Welcome Back Dinner and new for 2011, (and my personal favorite) Holiday at Hadlock.  I cannot wait to write about Holiday at Hadlock because I get to do all of the decorating for that.  I will be sure to have some great stories for you from my adventures there.

So check into Mike’s blog throughout the season for all of the  updates and happening at our games.  He is far more knowledgable of the plays and players that make their living between the foul lines.  If you want to know about our promotions, our events and the inside scoop in their planning or are just curious about the every day workings of a front office (we eat a lot of cake) then please, follow this and feel free to comment and ask questions.

The 59th work day is drawing to close.  We are all anxiously waiting for April 12th and hope you are too.  Stay tuned for more updates later next week!
